The Five Levels Of Dental Care

added on: May 14, 2013

We understand that choosing a new dentist and dental health team can be a challenge. A few years ago, we wrote a statement of purpose for our practice.

“True meaning in life means serving others. This practice exists to serve people by acting as their dental health coach, believing that good dental health makes for a longer, better life and that the humane way to provide that service is one patient at a time.”

We help our patients become as healthy and youthful as they choose. We listen and help our patients understand their choices about dental health and then they make a well informed choice about their health goals.

We offer many opportunities for people to join our practice and actualize their health goals through dental health coaching. Here we highlight the top five levels of care we provide to people who chose us:

Level 1. URGENT CARE: People in crisis or with an emergency problem such as pain, swelling, bleeding or severe headaches or facial/jaw joint pain need immediate help.

Level 2. REMEDIAL CARE: People desiring treatment when something breaks or becomes uncomfortable. They prefer short term, quick exams, and screenings for more obvious advanced problems. And usually want to correct immediate problems with as little effort and cost as possible. Folks at this level are not yet ready for a comprehensive examination and a long term treatment plan. Most may be counting on fate or luck to see them through, at least at the present time.

Level 3. SELF-CARE: People serious about keeping their teeth and health in good or excellent comfort, function and appearance for a lifetime. People at this level choose to have a comprehensive examination, fully evaluating gums and supporting tissues, teeth, and the dynamic relationship of the jaws to the continued health of the dental system.

Level 4. COMPLETE DENTISTRY: People choosing comprehensive examinations to formulate a long-term treatment plan designed to achieve a dental future of choice, not chance.

Level 5. WELLNESS RESOURCE: People in excellent health that understand the relationship between dental health, life long youth and beauty. They see the important relationship between oral health and systemic health. These people are interested in highly effective levels of nutrition, exercise, and the maintenance of a youthful, healthy lifestyle.

It is common for people to begin at a lower level and progress to higher levels over time. This choice belongs to our patients. We help our patients with decisions regarding the level most comfortable for them and are here to answer all questions.
